So, there was time for one more Joe Blackmore win before 2024 ends: the 21-year-old was named the British Male Rider of the Year by Cycling Weekly magazine.
Given Blackmore’s breakout season, his claiming of this prestigious crown – and following in the footsteps of Mark Cavendish, Adam Yates and Tom Pidcock, among others – is undeniably justified. He won the Tours of Rwanda and Taiwan, and Circuit des Ardennes in IPT colors, as well as becoming the first British winner of the Tour de l’Avenir.
Teenage sensation Cat Ferguson was named the British Female Rider of the Year, while Greg LeMond was presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award.
