Israel – Premier Tech’s successful return to the Sibiu Tour was rounded out with Riley Pickrell sprinting to second place on the final day and George Bennett safely crossing the finish line to retain third on the General Classification.
Pickrell crossed the line in third place but a relegation saw Giacomo Nizzolo awarded the win and Pickrell move into second place.
“It’s a shame how the sprint played out, but I was happy with the legs I had in the sprint and throughout the week,” said Pickrell. “It was a special honor to have the team ride for me these sprint days and really showing their belief in me.”

Bennett’s General Classification podium comes off the back of his third place at Giro d’Abruzzo earlier in the year while Matthew Riccitello finished sixth overall and was crowned best young rider at the race, with the duo finishing 38 seconds and 1:20 down on race winner Florian Lipowitz (Red Bull – BORA – Hansgrohe) respectively.
“We had a nice few days here,” added Bennett. “I didn’t plan on being in Sibiu in July but I enjoyed a week here with a good crew. It was nice to see Riley get his first pro win and me and Mathew did what we could on a course that didn’t really suit us.”
